Engine Tear down help

Hey whats up I have finally gotten around to taking apart my 1972 engine that has been sitting in my garage. The question I have for you guys since this is my first tear down is this. I can not get the bolts on the heads to move not one inch. So what I was thinking was putting WD-40 on the bolts and letting it sit for a day to try and take them off. The question I have is that ok or is there a better way. I know it is sorta a dumb question but this is my first time tearing down a engine. Plus my bud is out of town and he can't help me so I look to the next best thing. Thanks for the help in advance though

We are talking about the bolts that hold the heads to the block, right? What are you using to try to loosen them?

Which direction are you turning them?

Heh. Especially since the head bolts are all in teh water jacket, and if wd40 could get down there, well then water would be getting out.

Xrazydrew:

An impact gun on low/medium should get 'em out just peachy, otherwise a 3ft breaker bar. The bottoms of the threads are prolly rusted to the block.

Sounds like my kind of fun. Thanks for the help and just so you know there will be a lot more coming where that question is from. I think later on this week I will be picking one up. Sense I have to be at work at 6:30 AM all week. Also got 3 comps to work on today. So I doubt I will be getting around to the engine anytime soon....and by soon I mean in the next 3 days lol
