Engine Noise & Knock Sensors

I hear that lash mechanical (flat or roller) cams & gear cam drives may set off knock sensors. Anybody have any real experience in this area. I did have a knocking A/C compressor do just that. I have intent on using a 400 non roller block with a solid roller cam in knock sensor application. I have some of these parts laying around and would like to avoid the retro hydro expense/hassle if this theory is all bunk. Crane Cams master lobe catalog make reference to this with their SR (street roller) series

Any thoughts

Todd
