Bolt keeps loosenign, anything i can do?
Well my header flange (2 bolt kind) bolts on the passenger side keep coming loose, and it seems like every 2 months I am driving down the road when they completely let go.
So tomorrow I got to wake up really early and fix the darn thing before I get to work.
This time when I fix it, are there anythings I can do in particular to make these bolts stay tight? At those temperatures superglue (or even lock tight) wouldn't work. What else can I do?
Shane

I don't think it's a good idea to use superglue on bolts lol.
How about hi-temp threadlock?

Get header bolts with holes drilled in the heads for safety wire. Then buy some tie wire from, well, anywhere, and thread it between two bolts to 'tie' them together. They will not ever loosen, and if you need to take the bolts out, you dont need any weird tools or special waste-your-time techniques. Just cut the wire and grab a wrench to take them out.

well i;ve always been told that locktight is just like super glue, so i figured of its like super glue, and super glue cant take 1k* temps, then why would lock tite.... i guess i'm wrong, i'll stop by autozone tomorow and see what they got for me then....

I'm amazed. Stunned. He's getting better. Now if we could only get him to search.
Many of these are sound advice. I'm cheap and just check 'em now and again. Lock washers seem to help, for a while, as well.

use better gaskets and better bolts. if you don't want to go the high dollar stage 8 route safety wire is cheap and easy, at least for some of us. on the plus side not much looks any better than a good safety wire job on something.

Yeah, and he drives me crazy. I've only started 2 threads here because I can usually find what I need by
But he's not the only one that posts a lot. "V8 Slayer" has quite a few threads too.
Or is that one of the alias that Shane uses?

I can't start any of my own lines cause of having none of that thread stuff.
Is it thread or tread? Seen it both ways.
