my '88 Formula, the speedo only went up to 120 and the needle went well past that.
'87 Camaro 2.8, Speedo stops at 85, and the needle hits the trip reset at about 97.

Well these are Canadian numbers...
My speedo is dialed back 80 km/h as well. Meaning when I'm doing 90 km/h, it only reads 10 km/h...
My speedo reads to 140 km/h...
I have had it pinned, so there is a minimum 220 km/h (140 + 80 for the dial back) and had lots to give after that.
Quick conversion... 1 Mile = 1.6 kilometers
1 Kilometer = 0.625 Miles
220 km/h = 138 Miles Per Hour
That is approximately by the way. Don't kill me for the math, I did it quickly in my head...
Like I said, I had lots to give. When I bought the car, the guy told me that it was close to a 200 mph car...
where that could ever be confirmed I have no idea. No, I don't believe it is either, but the way it was pulling at 140 mph, I wouldn't doubt if it could break into the 180's...

when i first got my car the suspension was dead( all i have gotten to replace is rear shocks) so going anything above 60( or waht seemed 60) was an experience.. kinda like a floating car

Don't know. I had the speedo buried past 85 MPH when trying to keep up to my dad in his '78 T/A with a '70 RA III engine. Basically pulled away from me like my '84 LG4 was standing still ...

An 83 LG4 TA with a TH350, 3:23s and 26 inch wheels will hit about 120mph at 5000 rpm on the back strait at Mosport and still have a good bit of throttle left so it's over geared for that track.
