alternator bracket bolt size
alternator bracket bolt size
I tried doing a search and could not find anything. Does anyone know what size the bolt is that goes into the bracket that adjusts the tension of the alternator belt? This is for an 87 TPI setup with V-belts (since i think i read somewhere that different years have different brackets). Thanks guys.
That's the bolt that basically just goes through the bracket and into a set of threads cut into the ear on the top of the aluminum alternator housing? If so, I don't think it's anything special. 1/4-20 thread with a 1/2" 6-point head about 1" long available at any hardware store, if I had to guess (don't take my word for it). Should cost you about a dime and 2 pennies.

It's either 5/16"-18; or it's the common metric size with a 13mm head (very close to 5/16")... I think it's 8mm x 1.25mm but I'm not positive. Yours should be the metric version.
