CAMSHAFTS (not a pick one for me post...)
Ok I have a few questions....
What would happen if I put a LT-1 Cam in a L98 350 with a high-flow TPI,
And If you look in Jim Pace 2000 on page 49 in the camshafts, there is a "Second design racing cam;good for short track and road racing cam for a 350ci and larger V8..." Bingo, road racing, it is a Mechanical Flat Tappet, with a LSA of 112. Could I have Compcams Grind me this in a roller versiona nd how much would it cost. What kind of power and where would it produce it....
Dur @ .050 tappet lift - 262/273
Lift with 1.5 rockers - .488/.509
Also what would happen if I added 1.6 rockers. oh yeah, with a high flow TPI or maybe a RamJet.

i'd stay away from mechanical in a knock senser car, as you said and go with a roller. most likely you could get the sane specs in a roller cam, maybe even better specs since most rollers allow for more aggressive profiles. cost me 25 dollars ove the list price a year ago to get lunati to grind me a cam.

I suppose the computer could confuse the slight valve ticking noise a mechanical cam makes as pinging and it would back off the timing.

Camaro6speed,
My brother has the second design off road cam in his truck, and it produces great upper end power, but unless you plan on doing a LOT of mods to a TPI set-up, you want to stay away from this cam. The truck runs its fastest shifting at 7200RPM. The recommended RPM rang that GM publishes is 4200-7200, and that is a pretty accurate recommedation. The cam has no low end power. His truck weighs 3865# w/ him in it and has a 10:1 compression 350, w/ a set of unported World Products Sportsman II's, a Bowtie intake and a 750 Holley. He also runs a 3500 stall, and it needs a 4000+, but the truck runs 12.40's with a stock suspension, so the cam has the ability to make a lot of power, but you really have to turn it. If you do want to use it, ad have it ground in a roller profile, make sure you have it ground in a solid roller, as a hyd roller won't be able to run the RPM to make the most power.
Oh, BTW, my brother has 1.6 roller rockers on his. See the 78 GMC Sierra Page on my website below.
