vats problem...help where to start

ok well i have an 89 iroc with 5.7 now a t56 was 700r4, but I am the 2nd owner, and the car came with an viper esp 5600 alarm with remote start , the first wierd thing is my key has no chip on it for vats/passkey,

so i get hard starting most of the time and check engine throws vats probelm code, so heres my question will the alarm install affect vats? i mean i look under the dash and see a whole bunch of ****in crap wires cut and everything under there, the 2nd part is is my key cyilnder is worn out it doesnt like to turn and lock in each setting properly, and hte 3rd part i thought i was supposed to have a key with the security chip in it... all cars in 89 came with it correct.

If you have remote start the installer bypassed the VATS module or soldered in a resistor of the correct ohm rating between the 2 yellow wires comming down from the steering column.
