When did GM start to use VATS in their car F-bodies and Y-bodies
just bought a 85 vette motor for my 88 camaro and was wondering if VATS was going to be a headache for me
and why is that the 85 F and Y bodies ecm won't work with any 86 to 89 harness is it because of VATS will a 88 harness and ecm work with this motor

The 85 Vette would not have a Vats system. Camaros started using it in 89, so you should have no problems with that. GM improved the tpi about every year so, maybe the computer may be the same for some years, the program chip would be different. The 85 engine was wired quite a bit different than later years.

'88 in the f-body. (more common on the later production gta and irocz)
85 had a differant maf system
86-88 are very similar almost identical (programming was about the only differance
89 they removed the cold start injector
