Is the ECM adding to much timing at idle?

I set base timing at 4-6* advanced. Reconnected the EST wire and the ECM added 20* or more on top of that. That can't be right can it, at only ~1000RPM's
Would it do this if it detected a lot of extra fuel?

Or it probably would do this if the TPS sensor was reading to high. Right?

Did you disconect the white wire when you did the timing and when and if you did, did you disconnect the battery to reset the computer memory.

That may be about right at 1000rpms, once the EST is reconnected the computer will advance timing to the best possible place for complete combustion.

FWIW, with my EST connected at 725-750rpms, my timing is around 14-16*BTDC.

Yeah thats about right, the PROM has about 20' of timing on top of the initial in the idle region. It's completely normal.
