Getting an '82 Z28?
Getting an '82 Z28?
Hi guys(and gals) this looks to be a great site
I have the chance to pick up an '82 for $250 CND. Here's the "jist" of it
No motor or trans
Written off(Crazy deer)
I haven't seen the car, it's under a snow drift. Though the owner says the fender is crunched in, and the door is dented. Though I'm curious to why the car would be a write off if that's the only damage?
He says the chassis is straight, and the wiring harness is complete /w an alright interior.
What do you think? Worth looking into?
I do need a DD, and if all I need to do is find a 305, and stick 'er in, I don't see why I shouldn't.
And if it fails Body Integrity, I'll probably part it out. Would I at least break even /w the parts? Are glass, taillights, etc, worth anything?
There's a picture of her from awhile back

Thanks,
Darcy

That's a pretty good deal, eh. That's like $200 US. See if you can get him to throw in the cinder block, eh.
Seriously, if the body is straight and clean, it may be worth it. If it were me, I'd like to get a good look under the snow before deciding anything. By the time you consider towing, the price is going to almost double. Pay particular attention to the rear quarter/sail panels. If there is any sign of distortion of buckling, walk away.
Used engine/trans combos can be found reasonably if you are patient.

Scrutinize over rust, if there is any. Especially important if, like my 82, it has been a northern car for most, if not all, of its life.
