i've got an 89 GTA most documentation i can find states this is a dual cat car yet when i crawl under i can only locate 1 what give??!?! would they be one after the other? i find it at the start of the pass door.

I just ordered a mufflex 4" and im trying to figure out if io rdered the WRONG system
needless to say im 5hitting myself.

Also what to do with the cats do i need them, i mean i dont need emmisions i've heard i need them for some backpressure, should i just get a highflow or will i get better perf out of no cat ?

They would be side by side on the passenger side of the car.

Personally I like the idea of cats. I know they rob some power, but why not run cleaner?

Most of the dual-cat f-bodies I've seen have the cats before the pipes meet at the y-pipe.

Take em off. If you want to clean the air, pickett the semis and dump trucks you have to pass so you dont choke on there fumes.

I personally would just get the high flow cat and and be done with it....flows the same as a straight pipe and would not cut into performance although many will disagree, I have seen cars run high 9's in the quarter WITH a cat....hhmmmm 60 bux is nuthin.....do it right.

Just for the record, Deisels don't pollute as much as you think.

A high-flow cat is ideal, but $60 is ALOT for someone that makes minimum wage, plus you gotta have it welded on, or fool with leaky slip-fit connectors..

There are NO adverse effects to the performance of your vehicle when you gut the cat, Your car will run better in most instances. All my cars have gutted cats.

You might pollute a little more, but you'll also get better gas mileage, so I say it's a fair trade.

I removed my cat, and have had no problems. I have an 89 GTA, and the car only had one cat on it (The original) We have no inspection here, so I took it off, and I am happy without it.

Hey GTA-Paladin, I removed the cat, and put on a 2 chamber flowmaster, and notice a little more power. It seems to run better also.

You may indeed only have one cat. If you have a 305: I think the G92 cars were the only ones to have the dual cat setup. If you have a 350: somethings weird.

I've got one cat, i called and confirmed with davenportracing.com ( the store thats doing the order for me and they said it's a 1 cat car... They also said it will cost money to fabricate a straight pipe to go to inplace of the ct... Is it worth it?

Hey GTA Paladin, It cost me $80 dollars labor to have the guy put my exhaust system in. He fabricated a pipe where the cat was, and did a great job installing the other parts. I bought the rest of the parts (Pipe, Muffler), he mig welded everything for me also.(No Clamps)
I into the system for a total of about $370 from the Y pipe back. Why don't you just get the factory 3inch pipe from Napa auto parts, and your muffler (Flowmaster?) and then bring it somewhere to have it installed. It wont be to bad price wise. They will just have to fabricate where the cat was.
P.S. I had a GTA with a 350 and only had one factory cat. Later
