afr 195 heads w/l98 angle won't fit with slp 1 3/4 headers?
I did all the research or so I thought. it seems like only a few others had this problem. the only thing I can think of is that slp changed there headers since I bought mine.the reason I think this is because I never had to put a single dent in my headers w/ my stock heads but, others have claimed they have had interferance w/steering shaft
and these same guys seem to have no problems with the afr l98 angle plug heads and there slp 1 3/4 headers.
my problem specifically is the number 6 primary tube touches the number 8 plug. I think I am going to have to put one heck of a dent in the primary tube to clear and be able to put a plug wire on it. unless anyone knows of a shorter plug (ac delco is what I want to use)

I looked on summit and they show the flat seat plug that I need but, it does not show the overall length. I would really like to know this befor I spend even more money on plugs.
If I can't get this figured out soon I will go with long tubes or put on the turbo sooner than I planned (it already has a s/c )

AFR makes 2 different angle plug heads. L98 and standard angle plug. Are you sure that you have the L98 angle plug version?
When I purchased my heads from AFR they asked me what headers I was goin to use. I told them 1-3/4 SLP's. They told me to use the L98 version heads would work better with the SLP's because SLP designed those headers around L98 heads. I have been using full size autolite plugs #3923 with out a bit of problems or clearance issues.
I hope this helps and good luck

thats the thing though they are l98 angle plug heads. I bought them used and got all the papper work with them. I checked the numbers and everything to make sure they are the l98 angle plug heads. the odd thing is how it is really just that one plug that hits. the rest are very far away. it's like the original headers are just a little differant or something.
I dented the tube and now it clears but, I might try and get the shorty plugs for added boot clearance

I'm running same headers with angle plug heads and also have a nice dent in #6. It must be tighter than yours because this is to fit an autolite shorty plug. However, I ran regular length plugs with different heads that took straight plugs with no problems or dents.
