Help Quick!! Megashifter is stuck in Neutral!!
Help Quick!! Megashifter is stuck in Neutral!!
Ok i am picking up my car at Maaco today after they had it a month and when the guy brought it around front he tried shifting it (B&M console megashifter) back into park, and it wouldn't budge past neutral and now the t-handle (part to pull up to put into gear) is stuck down and won't shift. Is the cable kinked or is the problem in the shifter itsself. I've had it over a year and it was professionally installed. This is the first problem i've had with it. Maaco is getting a mechanic to look at it tommorow, but i'd like to have some ideas about what they should do. And i wanted my car back today sooo bad!!! Please help guys

Sounds like to me you need to simply ratchet it back down to drive and then the T will pull up. Once it does pull up shift it forward. I am certain those shifters lock out the T when you are in neutral. Probably to make it impossible to go to reverse from neutral. So in other words, nothing is broken its just not being used right. Don't feel bad, I have seen hundreds of people trip up on the ratchet shifters.

correct, the t-handle won't move in neutral. To move across the reverse lock-out you must be in OD and the t-handle pulled up.

ok thanks guys,
Just called MAACO and they got it back into gear. I wonder if the heat had anything to do with it. The guy who drove it said that he burned his hand on the shifter putting into gear yesterday cause the car was in the sun. I appreciate the quick responses guys.

The entire shifter is made of metal. I seriously doubt that heat would have anything to do with it not shifting. I think the idiot just didn't know how to use it.
