I have an electric speedometer and a mechanical speedo tranny....HELP!
Please tell me exactly what I need in order for my electric speedometer to read the speed with my transmission that is setup for a mechanical speedo.
There's 2 issues here. One is that I really would like not to have to take apart the transmission and change those gears for my different rear-end gearing.
Is there setup to do adjustments with the speedometer just by adjusting a setting on a box or something?

-355 carb'd, nicely reworked '67 vette heads, 2500 stall, 4.10's, other small things.
-Alston SFC's, Eibach Pro-kit, Koni's all around
-100+ nitrous shot
-Cruising in style with leather and nice stereo.

Car: 1992 Camaro RS & 1992 Camaro RS
Engine: 3.1 L v6 & 305 (5.0L) v8
Transmission: 4L60 Auto
Get the eletronic sending unit off of a transmission of the same year car that the eletronic dash came out of and wire it up using a scamatic from a repair manual, real simple.

It should be $100 or so, last I checked. And its simply a matter of taking out the mechanical VSS, and putting in your electronic VSS in its place. Just make sure you have the right driven gear on it.

This was in popular hot rodding June 2001 issue they swapped a 200-4r into a 4th Gen
"The 200-4R is set up to run a mechanical speedometer, while the fourth gen f-bodies are set up for electronic speedos. Yanks solution is to machine a stock t-56 speedo reluctor wheel to press-fit on the 200's output shaft they then drill a hole in the side of the transmission case weld on a suitable bung and inserted a stock t-56 speed sensor this is an elegant solution to a fundamental problem no wires to splice and a perfectly functioning speedometer every time, very nice!." now i do realize that the old tranny was a t-56 and granted the fact that i know nothing about cars i just read a lot of mags and am slowly trying to learn.. i wouldnt see the difference here.. someone correct me?

How do I just change over from the mechanical speedo housing on the tranny to the VSS setup??...I'll worry about screwing with those gears later, I just want a working speedometer and I'll figure out how much it's off!
