Well, I'll give my .02. I'm sure there are lots of varying opinions. Your question implies that you are looking for a performance gain since you pointed out aftermarket heads. If you aren't looking for a performance gain, leave the stock ones on and be done. However if performance is in the equation, a chip is almost mandatory. You can't get the most out of your set up without tuning it. If you change to a better flowing head the computer has no idea what to do with the flow thats been added. Changes can be made in moderation, but why spend the money on small gains when a bigger gain only costs a little more. Be careful, your engine can run worse with bolt ons only & no chip. You wouldn't take a shower & put your dirty underwear back on, if you begin a performance enhancement, you need to finish it properly. A chip is nothing more than a screwdriver, timing light, jet kit & power valve, all of which nobody is scared of, its a learing curve. If you don't want to learn chips, you can get custom ones from some reputable places. Just my .02. Good luck with whatever you build. Oh yeah, I am running World Products Sportsman II 64cc cast iron, I like them, reasonably priced, stocked everywhere, all around pretty good for the money.

Why not check out the DIY Prom board on this site? No one can "burn" you a correct prom through the mail...It will be more off than your stocker is. Sorry, I lost track of where the heck I was...OOPPPPS
