Stock GM aluminum vortec Heads?????

Did GM make a aluminum vortec heads that came stock on the chevy trucks? If so are they the same as the fastburns?

I have a guy that has a set and wants to sell them. They are aluminum and have the vortec intake bolt pattern.

What casting numbers should I look for? I have talked to two different guys locally that said they got there aluminum vortec heads from a stock GM trucks.

If this is correct, Do these heads flow good and how much would they be worth? What kind of studs and valves are in them?

Thanks for any advice. I will try to get the casting numbers.

Those heads are off of a Gen III truck motor. They will not work on a Gen I or II block. GM still generically calls all their truck motors "vortec". It is a term that gets meshed together with all other vortecs starting back in 94 or so. The Gen I aluminum vortecs are the fast burns.

Here is the funny thing, They bolt up to a GEN 1 block. They are aluminum and do have the 8 bolt vortec intake. Is there any chance that the fastburns could have been and option. Maybe swapped out by someone?

What would be the casting numbers for the fastburns? What would a used set be worth? Are they worth buying?

Check out Mortec.com and see if the numbers they are giving you match to any on that page. If you can get some pics of them posted.

Yeah, I like there site. I have it in my favorite list.

I will check the casting numbers and find out for sure.

If they are the fastburn heads, what would they be worth in good condition used? Will my hedman 1 5/8 Lt headers work on those heads? I know I will need a different intake, but Im carb so that is no problem.

Im just wondering if I should invest much money into them.

Those heads did not come with that truck and someone instead swapped them on. That is okay though because GM never really made a junk aluminum head. They were never an option on any vehicle. Your casting numbers will tell you for sure.

Thats what I though. These guys sware that they came off a chevy truck. Someone must have replace them at sometime.

Oh well, If they think that they are just aluminum stock truck heads, then maybe I can get them cheep. My gain from there ignorance.

I will check the casting numbers just to make sure.

Anyone have any good info on the fastburn heads?
