best aftermarket prom???

I'm going to buy a new chip for my car, and I'm wondering what are the more popular ones to use? The car isn't heavily moded so i'm not interested in burning a custom one for it.But it needs one , so i thought i'd buy a performance one. any suggestions are appreciated.

You'll get alot of different opinions on this one (I'm happy with the JET I have), but there is one thing that's pretty much unanimous: Avoid Hypertech like the plague!

I'm going to tell you exactly what you don't want to hear. The best chip you can get is the one you do yourself. The ones you buy "off the shelf" are:
A: very vauge, they need to be compatible w/ many variables, so changes are slight.
B: Usually only "WOT" tuning is done for emissions reasons
C: Greatly overpriced.

I started burning my own PROMS. Initial investment is about $250, but if you get a friend to do it with you, you can split the cost 50/50. So if you get a friend, it will cost the same to buy ONE "off the shelf" chip, or burn your own as many times as you need all for about the same price.

Not to mention, you don't need a "hi-po" setup for a custom chip. But you can get the most out of what you got by doing a custom chip. There are alot of smart guys at the PROM board that are willing to help, but you have to be willing to help yourself. They won't do anything for you.

I love doing my own chips, and I have nothing extravagent, but let me tell you, I REFUSE to buy an "off the shelf" chip because I know what I know. Just my $.02
