Edelbrock Victor EFI

Just got my new Summit catalog today, and Edelbrock has made a Victor, and Super Victor manifold for EFI. It has the injector bosses machined in it. The victor is $320.00, and the Super Victor is $380.00. Fuel rails will cost you another $80.00, and it says all hardware is included, and will work with standard injectors.(2.650'o_ring spacing).

Pure udder crap, Engine Masters used this manifold and it had no more than 7hp gain through the RPM range over carb when it was tuned...

I take it, what you mean is, only 7HP more than a carb, when the carb was installed on the carb version of the same manifold? In which case, 7HP, is 7HP, period. Not huge, but not insignificant either; 1-2% on a typical engine that might have such a manifold. If not, then it's pretty much meaningless.

Comparing a single-plane down-draft large-pplenum manifold to an emissions-legal long-tube-runner stock replacement, is just about as ridiculous. That Victor will supprt 700HP easily. It all depends on what motor is under it.

Same as the carb comparison.

Also, in the carb vs EFI deal, whose ECU and software were they using?

RB, Isnt it funny how we just were talking about this the other day? Its been quite a while since I looked in a Summit catalog, and Im sure alot of the TGO community knew about it, but I figured Id post it anyway.

If I did decide to take that route, Edelbrock just made it way easier. thats not a bad price at all, when you consider buying a Brodix HV1000 intake, and having it drilled, and fabbing up some rails. And just think, if your math was off a bit, it could be more costly.

Im not sure right now, but Im seriously thinking my unported S/R on a 436 might be a restriction.

Ive never had the oppertunity to DIY Prom my combo as of yet, but this spring I will. Im about ready to purchase some Diacom, a cheap laptop, and WBO2. I already have Tunercat, and a PP2 and several AT29C256 proms. Im also using the G1 adapter w/ a ZIF to make changes simple.

I hope my intake is not a restriction, but if it is, Ill take it from there. If I should have to remove it for some "serious porting", Im going to convert, and make the S/R labor a thing of the past.

I would not call it crap,, but as you pointed out there will be very little if any WOT power gain swapping from carb to EFI with the same intake design (Victor carb vs Victor EFI) and similar sized carb / TB.

For what it's worth,, I'm basically still a carb guy myself,,, so if I'm going to spend the cash on an EFI system, the runners are going to have to be at least as long as the Holley StealthRam,, or longer. To me,, that's about the only WOT advantage I see that the EFI has over the carb,,, it's easier to get longer runners under the stock hood - and that's going to be application specific,, meaning you might not want / need longer runners.

Anyway,, that is a good deal on the Victor E,, it's actually $306.39 on their website and there's no Super Victor for the SBC. The edelbrock fuel rails at $80 is not bad either,, top it off with the Holley 1000cfm T/B (with IAC and TPS included) for $463.95 inline AFPR for around $130 and you could convert a TPI system over to a decent single plane injection for around $1100 with the fuel lines, fittings, etc. Assuming the IAC values are the same as the TPI's and you already have all the chip burning equipment. Or,,, you could fabricate a plenum box to run your current T/B like I've seen posted on corvetteforum.com

Sounds like a good deal to me, I also agree that that intake should support 700hp easily, from the research I have been doing, I wish I had seen this set-up before I bought the mini-ram. If I had that set-up, I would have been guarenteed an easy 15 hp over the Mini-Ram, with the Super Vic EFI. 7hp over a carb is pretty good, and I'll bet it was probably quite a bit higher throughout the entire powerband, to me it would be worth. Think about it, the Super Vic w/ a carb, and the super Vic w/ EFI, the price isn't all that different, and you have the advantage of EFI.

I stand corrected you are right, the Super Victor is for Ford, and Pontiac applications. I must have been too excited, and misread the applications...

Accel DFI and it was not a makeshift intake either.

Carb might be less effiecent but it makes nearly the same power

Throughout the powerband it wasn't enough to warrent a change, but the funny part is torque numbers were actually lower on the accedl dfi victor manifold
