Block filler? Or what?

So I pulled my 305 a couple of days ago, and couldnt figure out for the life of me what this stuff is! I am GUESSING that it's in a coolant port, but I dont know enough about heads to know for sure.

It's solid, concrete-ish, I'm guessing it's block filler, but I thought that you put that by freeze plugs?

that could be it, if it didnt stop the radiator leek but instead clogged the coolant port

thats the rear port. on most intakes it does not flow any coolant so the junk that got built up in the system just collected there. very common on older engs

Thanks for the responses, it just scared me... at first was thinking "well, this might be another reason why the engine went boom" lol.

Anyhow, I'll try to chisel it out and see where that gets me lol... guess I'll have to take it out of the intake too then, I didnt even look in the intake for it.

Thanks for the responses
