Where is the oil pressure switch?

I got a 91rs w/ 305. Is the oil pressure switch located above the oil sender?

It should be right next to the distributor. Theres a fitting that taps into the block and then the sendor/switch is screwed into the fitting with a couple wires plugged onto it.

On later models I believe the sensor and the switch were combined into one unit and located just above the oil filter.

Stekman is correct for 91' and later Models.

Is this in reference to the oil pressure gauge or the Fuel pump Switch? (the gauge side can fail due to presence of sealing compound on the threads in the engine, or on the unit causing a poor ground.) On earlier models the gauge sending unit is up top, and if it has a fuel pump switch it's down low.

This is in reference to the Fuel pump Switch. I lost fuel pressure, and i want to check this switch to see if its bad before i drop the tank.

Slightly off topic but...

I have installed an autometer oil pres gauge and installed the compression fitting into the oil press stem by the distrib. Now (4months later) its leaking there because the line got tugged and I need to remove it but the bolt is stripped and stuck in there good. Any solutions??? Vice grips?? Or can I remove the stem and go at it off the car?? If I do that how does it come out and reinstall?

This is frustrating.

Yeah, the adapter just threads in there.

As for the Switch aspect, the oil pressure switch does NOT turn off the fuel pump. Never has, never will. It is a backup power supply in the event of FP relay failure. It will turn ON the fuel pump once oil pressure reaches some preset level. (five lbs?)

I am unsure of where that particular myth came from, but it seems to be pervasive on these boards...... Look at the wiring diagram, and all will be clear.
