5.0 or 5.7 1988 gta confusion
I just purchased a 1988 trans am gta. The paperwork says that it is a 5.0 litre v-8. All the information on the internet says that the 5.0 was only available through special order and with a manual transmission. I have an automatic trasmition. I am wondering how to be sure and also I would like specs on what the differences are between the two ingines with performance. Horse Power, Torque, Top Speed, 0-60 times, quarter mile times, etc. If anyone can help? Thank You

What's the 8th digit of the VIN: F, or 8?
If it's F, it's a 305 car; if it's 8, it's a 350 car. Of course that's no guarantee of what's in it now; although 305s are known to mysteriously morph into 350s about 70% of the time during sale negotiations, and to magically miraculously morph back into 305s as the ink on the contract dries.
