389 rope seal, does it have a pin?

Just a quick pontiac 389 question. Does a 389 have a pin in the block to retain the RMS? Lets say a 1959 389. None of my books say and I know there alot of pontiac buffs floating around here.

Before this gets thread gets locked:

No. The rear main seal on a Pontiac 389 is not pinned or retained in any way.

Trying to replace the seal without removing the crankshaft, eh?

Pontiacs use rope seals. They need to be "packed" into the groove with a tool outlined in the service manual. If you just lay the rope seal into the groove and assemble the engine it will leak.

There is a new rubber seal(like a Chebbie) that replaces the rope seal available from BOP Engineering.
