Induction opinion question...

I've been kicking this idea around at work all day today. Here's what I came up with for an affordable 350 upgrade...

GM Goodwrench 350 crate engine (pre-87 flat tappet).
Swap the heads in favor of the ported aluminum L98's on my 305 right now.
Swap the intake in favor of the Torker-II I've got on the 305 right now.
Swap the camshaft for Edelbrock's Torker-Plus (.520"/.520" lift, 232/234 duration @.050, 108 lobe seperation).

Here's where I've got a question. Is this combination to wild to tune with a 670cfm TBI unit and a 7747 ECU? Or do I need to go with a 750 carb and a vacuum distributor?

You'll have alot easier time with the carb. I'm not going to say it can't be done with the TBI, but it would be extremely difficult at best.

Correct me if I am wrong, but you are miss-matching parts there. A pre-87 block, with 87+ heads, and pre-87 intake? I don't even know if it would all bolt together?

I wouldnt even think about running that cam.

The stuff he has will bolt together fine, the year of the block doesnt matter (except for rear main seal issues) the heads are already the early bolt style, and the intake is too.

But he's talking about using the L98 heads instead. His car's an '88 so wouldn't they have the '87+ intake angle on the 4 center bolts? Or did the angle stay the same on aluminum heads? I vaguely remember reading that somewhere. And weren't the aluminum heads offered only on the Vette? Just for my own info, not trying to contest. And if he's gonna swap all that stuff, wouldn't it be better (cheaper) just to get a short block? And won't he have to change the flywheel/flexplate (depending on trans) to bolt to the 2pc. rear main crank?

Again, just trying to trip my own memory trigger. Thanks.

The aluminum L98's are off a vette. I got 'em ported from SDPC and they're on my 305 right now, same with the intake. Both of 'em have the the early intake bolt angles. I'm not too sure about the flexplate issues...$hit like that is why I asked .

madmax, can you suggest a cam? You think the Torker is too big?

I'd suggest much less cam, and a longer LSA. Look for a cam w/ 110-114 LSA, it will idle much better. That cam is way too big for those heads.
