More Torque after sitting?
More Torque after sitting?
I'm at college right now but go home occassionally on weekends. The car usually sits a few weeks, between being run but whenever i go home the car seems to have a boost of torque to it. After being driven a few days it seems to die off but initially the car will spin tires more frequently than usual. Is there any way to explain this?

Your motor is cold. Makes for a colder intake charge, and more power. Once the motor (and incoming air) heat up it goes away.
Could also be that you just get "used" to it after driving for a little bit.

Let me ask you this: what do you guys drive when you aren't driving your f-body's? If you go from driving a metro to your v8 powered fbody... well you get the idea.
I think its mostly in your head, you just get used to it after a day of driving.

No its definetly not in my head, i dont drive anything else but i travel for work and my office is only 2 blocks away, so i dont drive her for a while some times. And ive raced people plenty of times if the car has been sitting for a while it definetly has more pull at first but then when i drive it for a little bit and the temp gets up to normal for a while its not quite as punchy, it happens even faster in the summer.

Rogue is also right that a lot of it is probably in your head. I know that when my car ran (
) I would get used to the torque of it. But I got sick one time (not too sick, just a cold.. but I didnt really have any energy), and it felt like that car would just pull me back into my seat any time I went half throttle or more... that was fun. Thread
