hey guys i have diagnosed that i need to either replace or machine my flywheel. i was just wondering if there are any benifits to an aftermarket fly wheel? i mean i might as well just machine my old one right?

 

Either choice is fine, stock or aftermarket.

What is wrong with the one you have now?

 

when i let out the clutch on a hot day you can feel the whole car shake until the clutch is fully engaged. the clutch was replaced a few months ago. so im going to pulll out the flywheel and machine it.

 

OK, I don't want to sound like a d**k, but you should've machined the flywheel flat when you did the clutch, it's part of the deal.

 

well the thing is that im not the one who is stupid .because i got the car after he put a new clutch in and never machined the flywheel thats why know what the problem is, but hey no offense taken.

 

I had considered an SFI flywheel, infact I still might get one. BUt since I had like 5 factory flywheels lying around, I just machined one.

With the hydraulics, you can take as much as 40 thou off the flywheel and never notice a hint of difference. HOWEVER, i'd ensure you have the good heavy flywheel. I know a lot of people on here seem to think the "lightweight" 1pc flywheel is ideal. I pray that they keep their feet next time they overheat the clutch, cuz when that sucker gets too hot at 5k its coming through the floor.
