How long do shocks last?

Especially cheap ones? It doesn't seem like long ago, but it's been 23,000 miles since I put on my $17 ea. KYB shocks. They've felt kinda soft ever since I put on new struts - would it be safe to assume they're shot?

Man, I put those damn KYBs on my car and THEY SUCK. Everytime I go over a speed bump the back end slams down and sometimes it bottoms out. My stock Bilstein's that were 100,000 miles old were better that that. I think I'll be going with Bilstein's in the very near future.
But to answer your question, most shock last between 40,000 and 60,000 miles.

I would say every 40,000 look at your shocks bushing and mounts. Springs they say last a lot longer, but I say no longer than 90K for them...
