The O2 sensor is in the exhaust pipe. A bad one will cause an erratic idle (up and down rpm) and poor fuel economy.
They are easy to break so if you don't know where it is have a mechanic change it.

It's in the left exhaust manifold in your car, right above the flange where the Y-pipe hooks to it.
