I know this is stupid but where is the 02 sensor and how to tell if its bad ?

The O2 sensor is in the exhaust pipe. A bad one will cause an erratic idle (up and down rpm) and poor fuel economy.

They are easy to break so if you don't know where it is have a mechanic change it.

that's strange.. Which exhaust pipe,,, some where between exhaust manifold and the cat right... I replace my cat and back... For some reason I don't remember throwing that away.. Just wasn't clear to me thanks....

It's in the left exhaust manifold in your car, right above the flange where the Y-pipe hooks to it.
