home made gaskets??? for tpi

home made gaskets??? for tpi

hi i just got a pair of vary parted slp runners i got them from mike graycar and he was sayin he made his own gaskets, does anyone know how to do this? im having a hard time cutting gaskets to work with the ported parts!

yes, you buy a roll of rubber gastket. most part stores have this. it is like cutting very thick papper (or very thin cardboard) yes it is some what of a pain to do but, works.


I traced the runners on the material then I cut out the main shape.

then I made x marks where the bolts needed to go.

then install bolts to hold the gasket in place.


then I took a knife (razer, knife- what ever feels good while you cut) and cut the inside part out (almost like tracing the inside of the runners using the tip of your cutting tool . just take your time and you can always go back and trim the inside closer

Isn't there a gasket making punch set for such a purpose? Haven't used one but could swear I saw one somewhere. It has difirent radius sizes for different cuts ect.

Sometimes I make my own gaskets for minor things out of RTV. I'm yet to put a bought gasket on a diff cover or thermo housing.
