please help me!
I'm a bit of a car idiot so bear with me while I try to explain my problem.
When I first bought my 83 z28 it had 27,000 miles on it and was in great shape. I found out right afterward that the carb had been leaking gas everywhere and the o2 sensor was out along with the EGR valve. I have replaced all of this and now I have another lovely problem. When I first got the car I had a problem with the ac killing the car all the time and it would hesitate on take off and would die if left in park just sitting. This problem stopped after I stopped using the ac....well now I have the same problem except I'm not using the ac.
It bogs down, hesitates and dies. Any idea what this could be? I don't want to spend 70 dollars on diagnostics to be done just so I can pay more for it to be fixed.

Your carburetor should have an idle speed solenoid that will become active when the A/C compressor is on - just to prevent that kind of stalling and low idle. The position of this solenoid is adjustable, and there is a specified RPM to which it should be adjusted.

Item 79 in the diagram is the solenoid. Get a service manual, and a dwell/tachometer. Then adjust the solenoid following the prescribed procedure.

I would have thought the same thing but this happens when I'm not using the ac. The dude at the carb shop said it only moves when the ac is on/
