??'s regarding the effects of my free mods....

this past weekend, i did the tb coolant bypass and the ram air in one 'fatal' swoop. LOVE the results, except that my car stumbles from 4000-up rpm, but only in second. didn't get a speedo reading. i'll give specs so maybe someone can help. is it that my unmodded maf sensor is sucking too much wind to handle/ comp unable to compensate w/ extra fuel? that's my guess 'cause i'm running a stock l98 w/ the orig 305 tpi stuff and computer i'm not sure if the car will continue to stumble @ higher speeds, as i've not had the chance to do anything but let off the pedal, slow down, and say- that was nice, to a point. here's the specs: stock 350, 305 computer/ tpi stuff (including injectors), no afpr!!!, heddman shorties, 3in after cat, 700r4, 2.73's i'll try to run the car past the 4000 rpm limit tonight and get some more info/ actual speeds. hooking to a computer and running it isn't an option, yet. as always, thanks for the help.

I'll take a poke at this. You have freed up part of the intake tract, hit the 4K, by then you are already running lean, then PINGPINGPING, some knock, a ton of timing is pulled at once and you get a tad of hesitation. This may be the reason for different knock sensors between the two blocks. Something to try: get an AFPR and see what happens with some boosted pressure.

thanks red devil. i still haven't had the chance for any more high speed testing. i will tomorrow though. i'm also having my true duals run on thurs, so i'll mention my new problem to my mechanic, who just happens to own a local show-winning 92 z. needless to say, he knows and loves the cars with the rest of us! i'll keep ya posted.

Just don't beat on it when you get the duals installed. It will lean out even more afterwards.

Get AFPR or bigger injectors before testing out the mods. Also get a used PROM from a 350 car, preferably a 87-88 Vette.

Keep us posted :P

this may be true. fortunately i'm running a hedders, dual-in single-out high flow cat with 3-in after cat & flowmaster, so i doubt it will lean out a whole bunch more. i know i would be advised not to get duals, but i'vbe had them before and love them. being that i live in the country, i sure wish money grew on trees and i wouldn't be having these little nit-picky problems. oh well, glad i have a settlement coming in soon.... thanks, and i certainly will

got my duals run, and the guy did a real nice job. i'll try to post pics in the future, as i did get some before the film ran out. the car sounds sweet as hel when it's just idling, but anything past half throttle is obnoxious. i will be returning in a couple of weeks and having the glasspacks removed and turbos installed in their place. the afpr is the next thing, right after the turbos. i'm running the risk of being ticketed right now, and i don't want to take that chance! there is no doubt that an afpr is needed, as is the computer. is it possible to prgram the 305 computer for my 350?

by the way, it did lean out a little more, but it's something i can live with until the afpr is installed

sounds like you did a 350 swap?

change the knock sensor to the 350 style, the 305 one will not work...

you can run a 305 computer with a 350 engine, they are both the same ECM..

get a 350 PROM, 350 knock sensor, and you'll end up needing to get some 350 (22lb) injectors...

some guys go with 24-26lbs but sounds like your mods will need better stuff.. for now the stock 305 injectors will work..

good luck

this is why i truly, truly love this board- imagine finding others who are just as crazy about thirdgens as i am!! thanx guys! the afpr is still a couple of months away, so i'm living with it the way it is until then. of course, i'm planning my next engine swap already! i'll probably hold off on the injectors 'til later as it looks like a miniram will be part of my next motor. i think i'll get into prom burning real soon, too. colin, thanx for the computer info- just what i was hoping!!!
