major sputtering issues

I have an '89 Camaro RS, with a 305 TBI (L03) and a five speed. If I am in 5th gear just kinda cruisin' around 50 m.p.h., the engine sputters bad. Almost like it's out of gas, or bad spark plugs or something. I thought I was going to be stranded getting on the interstate the other day. Everything was fine until I got to fifth and all of a sudden the whole car was jerking and actin' a fool. I downshifted to 4th, still chuggin', went to third, still chuggin'. At this point I started to get over, ready for a long walk, then the engine smoothed out and did fine as long as I was doing at least 90. I know I probably didn't describe my problem very well, but I really hope someone can help. Thanks.

Lacking any other information, a guess is that it could be related to the EGr valve.

Could be a plugged cat too.

I know that the SES light came on a few months back saying that the o2 sensor was bad, and there was low wattage to the fuel pump. The light hasn't been on since then, and it ran better while the light was on. Could either one of these be causing my problem?

Also, I already cleaned the cat out, and ran a Dynomax cat-back exhaust system. It sounds pretty good if I do say so myself.
