well I keep fraying this fuel line and cutting the **** out of myself, can anyone give me some pointers??

try wearing mechanix gloves(I think that's spelled right), and maybe a long sleeve shirt.

 

Are you trying to install AN fittings on the hose? Try this tip I learned from a friend who is a hydraulics specialst on aircraft...

Wrap a little electrical tape around the hose end where you want to cut. This makes sure you cut the hose straight and the ends won't fray out while you cut it. Be sure to put the hose in a vise when you cut and use a hacksaw to do it. HTHs.

Wrap the tape tight around the hose before you cut. I like using a high speed cut-off wheel rather than a hacksaw, if you use a hacksaw make sure you use the sharpest, finest blade you can find. Use a pair of good side cutters to trim any loose strands.

If you're having trouble getting fittings on the end because the braid is flared out a little, stick a worm-type hose clamp on the hose with about 1/8" sticking out and tighten it down to squeeze the hose until you can get the end started.
