Can I move my ECM coolant temp sensor to the heads?

Just curious if I can clean up the wiring on top of my intake manifold... I've got a 385 TBI engine with Sportsman II heads. I was wondering if moving the ECM's temp sensor to the heads would damage it or give false readings, i.e. too high. Would the sensor itself get "heat soaked" from being right in the heads and read too hot?

you'll get higher reading in the head than any place else.
