Relocating Alternator with AC and Smog removed.....anyone???
I know I have seen a couple pics of this, but they were just general engine shots.....does anyone have any info on relocating the alternator to the drivers side? I beleive in the pics I saw(can't find now), the top part of both brackets is trimmed down, tensioner is gone, and a turnbuckle/tierod is being used between the alt and a mounting point as a tensioner. I'm looking for the specifics on this since the only reason to havea big ugly bracket on the pass side when the ac and smog are removed is for the tensioner....it looked really clean, and alot cheaper than an aftermarket serpentine kit....someone has to know how this was done.....

This is a thread I started a few years ago. It's a neat idea with lots of different ideas by several people. Towards the middle you'll find some pics from IROCZZ3 which look like what you're looking for.

ME LEIGH:
Can you take more pics of your alt setup, and a further out pic of it in the engine bay arrangement. I really want to do this. How much $ did it cost you to do. I wanna fab the stuff myself, cause March$$ is rediculous for a daily driver. I have a v-belt system with the smog and AC removed, but the alt is on a serp-like belt that goes around crank pulley and water pump pulley. Hope you can help me out so I can dupe your set-up.

Whenever you have a chance please post a description on how to make that tensioner thing and on setting it up.
Ive posted a couple threads on mid and low mount alt setups on passenger side and have had like no response in the past.

Ok is what i did was flip the alternator over so the top is facing down. Then the "tensioner" is an aluminum turnbuckle i got from the hardware store. The turnbuckle is bolted to the alternator and the other side is loaded against a stud. The stud goes into one of the hole down by the fuel pump, one of the hole is the one that locks the fuel pump pushrod. I think i did it this way because i only had one accessory hole on that side of the head. I also have a short style waterpump, so you might want to check out your pulley alignment.

Abubaca,
The pics in that post are close to what I am thinking of, but the one I saw had the tensioner rod on the top side of the alt, so the wider mounting ear was mounted to some part of the pass side serp bracket somehow....thanks for all the replies guys.....
