TPI windage tray - did they come with them?

I'm putting my 383 together, and will dyno the engine with a carb just to see what kind of power it will make and to be sure there are no problems, before I yank the 305. The guy at the machine shop told me the a tpi should have a stock windage tray already. Is this true? If it is I'll just take the one off the 305 and put it on the 383 before it goes in. If not I would like to get an aftermarket one before the dyno. I'm trying to get all the power I can, its a daily driver, so I want a tray! Thanks

I don't think they do, but I could easily be wrong. I've never seen one that comes with one at least.

To put an aftermarket one in, you have to use an oil pan that can accomodate it. It can't have the part of the baffle in front of the sump that functions sort of as a windage tray. It has to be empty.

I have the old 6-quart Z28 pan on my 400 with a Moroso tray on GM studs, works great. Of course that whole setup is for LH dipstick into the block. I modified it by installing a dipstick "hole" from a big block pan, and using the gauge & tube assembly for a 78 El Camino. I think there are some aftermarket pans available for the RH dipstick system that will accomodate a tray.

Are you talking about the oil splash shield under the intake manifold, or what is commonly referred to as a windage tray at the oil pan like RB is talking about?

Im about 99% sure the answer is No, Reig
The oil windage tray is found in higher end cars like vetts. The 1% that im unsure about is the TPI 350's, They might have come with a factory windage try but probably no on the 305.
