Having a problem with idle speed and adjusting timing....
I got my engine running and broken in on Thursday. Today, I decided to tinker with it some more. I put on the carbuerated throttle cable and set my throttle adjustment. I had to remove my drop base air cleaner so that I could get to the idle adjustment and mixture adjustment screws on the front side of my Edelbrock carb. I've got a cheapie sunpro tach hooked to the MSD box to give me some idea of what RPM I'm at. Anyway, I'm trying to start the car and fuel is coming out of the top of the carb as I'm cranking it(It is somewhat atomized when it is coming out). I finally get it running again, and I set the idle to about 750-800 RPM. I have my vacuum advance unplugged and all the vacuum lines are capped. Timing light shows 10 degrees BTDC on the balancer but the engine is idling very choppy. The cam isn't REALLY that big (I .488 E .510 lift with 234 I and 244 E duration and a 112 LSA I believe) Anyway, I hook up the vacuum advance and rev the motor up. It takes a while to get it going, like it doesn't want to rev. I'm just trying to get any ideas on if this because I don't think that it is normal and I want to get it right. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks, Paul Moore
