How to lube speedo cable?

My speedometer needle jumps up and down, screwing up the cruise control. Is there a special tool and/or process to lube the cable? I used to race motocross (long time ago) and lubed the cables regularly with a neat little tool designed specifically for that process (no longer have). Thanks for the help!

When I had to lube my speedo cable I just disconnected it from the dash and used an air compressor to blast the lube down the cable.
