headlight motors, need help now

Well i went to the junk yard today to get a headlight motor for my 84 TA, and i found one in an 87 TA, well i just wanted to know if the 87 would work in my 84, is it made differently or something, also he wants 35$ for it is that good? i have heard they cost like 350$ i also have another question, this 87 has nice looking dual muffler exhaust, i dont know what kind it is but i think he wants to sell it, is there a way i can find out what kind it is and how much it would be worth? i really need to get new exhaust on the LG4 what should i look for the see if its any good or not?

Im fairly sure the headlight assembly is the same. As far as exhaust goes the junk yard cannot sell you a cat "Its illegal to sell used converters" so they would have to cut the system after the cat which might not help you out much if your whole exhaust system is gone.

Whats different about it? If its just the **** on top, no big deal. I do know some of the newer ones have less wires, and from there I dont know if those work ok or not, but for sure its a rewire job.

Well the exhaust isnt really in bad shape, i just need to get new exhaust for better performance, if they can only give me the back part of the exhaust will it still help my power? i hope so i thinki ncan get it cheep, i also think might take the engine for a couple hundread, i think it has less miles than me and the 87 has like 20 more horsepower than my 84 right?

check and make sure the harness is the same for plugging it in, I hve not looked at the 87 + birds but the 87-88 fieros use different plug ins- also for side note the 84-86 fiero use different plug ins than the f-body but it is the same motor. If you would like to rebuild your headlight goto www.rodneydickman.com
look under electrical parts, you will find rebuild kits for them(it is a fiero site) the motors are the same.

let me know if I can help further

I have rebuilt many headlamp assemblies. The '84 lights are different from your '87.you might as well and get the whole entire assembly, not the motors. To make sure that they work good is to check the gear inside the motors. They may slip and cause the light not to go all the way up.Replace the light switch, because they can go bad on you and have they lights stuck "up".Also check if the assembly fits in you T/A,bolt and space stuff. Check if the wires hook up right too.
