Does insurance go up with performance mods?

My insurance is a ***** right now, and I was wondering if it will go up even more with all the crap i'm going to do to my car.

only if you tell them...

don't expect them to pay a fair amount if the car is stolen though

Well in your other post it looked like you were doing a ton of exterior mods that would really up the value. If you don't specifically tell the insurance company that you want the increased value covered (AND pay more premium for it!) then it's not covered. But I had a custom paint job on a previous thirdgen (done before I got it) and when the car was totalled (0% my fault) the other guy's company sent someone out to review the damage who noticed the custom paint and added about $800 to the car's value. That was good for me, but if I'd been the one to pay 3-4K for that paint I wouldn't have been happy. Since it sounds like you're getting a lot of nice work done, it might be worth it to pay a premium in case something is your fault or you have no fault.

For a daily driver, I don't think they need to know nothing. But if you have a "special" car for show, or customized a lot, then you might want to carry extra insurance coverage as much as it might hurt.
