how to remove axle shafts?
i need to remove the axle shafts i guess they are called in my 10 bolt, so i can replace my caliper brackets. i pulled the cover off, and i think i need to pull those main bearing caps off it looks like. what else do i need to do to pull these puppies off? thanks.
leave the bearing caps alone. remove the cross bolt, 5/16 hex, then the big pin, push the axles in and remove the c clips then remove the axles. replace the pin and bolt untill you reinstall the axles, don't spin the carrier with the pin out. bet if you did a search on the correct forum first you'd found this along info with a pic

thanks ed, i got my new brackets today, im assuming they will bolt up so the calipers stay on the same side of the axle.
one last question, can i go ahead and bolt these new caliper brackets on, or do i need to also bolt something like the dust shield using the same bolts?
hope you know what i mean. on my current 9bolt axle i got a caliper bracket and what looks like a dust shield, do they share the same bolts. and do i need to use these dust shields on my new 10 bolt, or can i just bolt on my brackets and slide the half shafts back in.
