ok installed new carb and dist. checked all the lines both vacuum and electrical. everyting is connected. installed dist with the balancer at 0* and teh rotor pionted at the #1 cylender. car turns over but wont start. any ideas on what it could be? tired of driving my honda need to go fast. By the way i have a 84 305. the new carb(edelbrock 1406) and dist(accel 9107) are non computer controlled.

 

correction it doesnt turn over but cranks. sounds like its trying to start but just doesnt.

 

How long did you crank? The bowls have to fill, after that I'd check for power to the spark and then make sure the timing is right. Maybe have a friend use a timing light while the engine is cranking to make sure about timing.

 

My guess is the distributor is installed a tooth off, or the plug wire routing is incorrect.
