today i went driving around in my car and a lot of white smoke was coming out of the pipes when i reved it up white smoke came out but then for about 5 to 10 minutes no smoke would come out no matter what i did but when i got home it was smoking and i checked the oil while the engine was running and when i took out the dipstick smoke was coming out of it what causes that and what can be done to fix it

 

sounds like possibly a blown head gasket..

was your oil milky or your coolant milky or have oil droplets in it?
