Well I'll soon be moving to CT and it seems they have the beloved emissions laws there. I'm not sure yet whether they do visual checks, but thought I'd post to get opinions on whether I'll be ok at the sniffer. I have a 3" pipe instead of a cat, stock manifolds with 3" exhaust after that, manifolds plugged and air pump removed. I have the egr and charcoal stuff intact. The only thing that prevents me from just reinstalling all the stuff (except the cat) is that I don't trust the steel air lines and the old rusty fittings on them from before. I know I should run a hot thermo and let it warm up awhile before I go for testing, but does anyone else have any tips? If they do a visual I'll be pi$$ed that I have to fork over so much more cash to get the a.i.r. equipped headers....

If you don't have a cat you're screwed. It's the only thing that lowers NOx and CO. Well, that's not exactly true EGR lowers NOx about 10-20% depending on what day it is and how much you can run. You can lean out the carb to get rid of HC, but no matter what you do to the engine with no cats you will fail the CO. The steel air lines that go to the cat add O2 to make the cat more efficient.
