overheating 83 T/A 305
My buddy's 83 T/A 305 is overheating. The fan is not coming on even as the temperature rises over 240 degrees. How much voltage should I get from the ECM to the fan motor?

The ECM does not control the fan motor.
There's a temp switch in the pass side head, between the #6 & #8 plugs. It operates a relay that's between the brake booster and the fender.
If you ground the sender wire with the ignition on, the relay should click and the fan should come on. If it does, then the sender is bad. If the relay clicks but the fan doesn't come on, check to see if there's 12V between the 2 wires going to the fan motor. If there is, it needs a fan motor; if not, it needs a relay.

RB, you're the man! If you remember, you helped me diagnose the problem w/ my 89 T/A fusible link problem. FYI, the ignition wire had shorted up under the dash and that was the cause of the blown link. Thank you!
