Hi, I have a problem with my AC pump, as it will cycle on and off very rapidly making a loud clanking sound while the Ac is on...It blows cold, but still is making the noise..when looking at it, the clutch engages and disengages rapidly, and I am wondering if the solenoid that draws the clutch in is the problem or what do you guys think?? Thanks a lot

It's low of Freon. There's a low pressure cutoff switch to protect the system from that.
It probably needs somewhere between 2 and 3 cans of Freon if it's able to come on but won't stay on. I'd suggest one can of oil charge and 2 of Freon, that should be better but it may take another one to get it completely right.

I thought that the A/C compressor is supposed to cycle on and off regularly? Can someone clarify this more?

If the system is low, the compressor cycles are very short like maybe 5 seconds. Really depends on how low the system is. Soon as you start adding freon, the cycles start to get back to normal.
