Vacuum Advance Distributer

I was at Highway Auto Parts in RI today and I found and bought a Vacuum Advance Distributor off of a 2.8L S10 With a Carb, It's the same motor thats in my 83 Firebird.I wanted to know if this was a wise buy? I think it was a good buy because I am going to buy the aftermaket Edelbrock Intake with the 4BBL. Adapter, Its a non-EGR Intake and I think that distributor is what I need, What do you think??

Only if you're eliminating the ECM timing control. If so, then yes, you'll need the vacuum advance distributor.
