Please help

I have a 1986 firebird 2.8L and it wouldnt start so I put a new coil and module in it and it started right up. This worked for a couple of days and then it wouldnt start again. Since then I have put two other new coils and new modules on it. The last time I had a shop do it but it still went out. Each time it was fine for around two days and then it wouldnt start again. Does anyone have any idea why my coil and module keep going out. I havent messed with it for a while because I thought it was a lost cause but maybe you guys will know what is wrong with it. Thanks for any help I get.

I am not sure what your distributor looks like (rusty memory) but there should be a ground somewheres. If its a coil in cap style distributor, there is a ground strap that goes in there under the coil that people sometimes leave out that could cause it.

Thanks for the responses guys. I think madmax solved my problem. I looked around the distributor and saw a ground strap that at one end is connected to the firewall and the other end is not connected to anything. Where exacatly do I connect the other end to. I want to be sure where to connect it to so I dont burn up the coil again. Thanks madmax you helped me out alot.
