Fan switch/sensor

My fan switch (the one on passenger side between two rear plugs) is bad and keeps my secondary fan running all the time.
It's not the relay I checked that with a known good one.
I unhooked the harness from the switch and problem solved fan not running all the time.
I have a manual switch wired to the relay from years ago when I had a cooling problem so I can still manually turn the secondary fan on when I want with the switch.
Would it be ok to just leave the fan switch unplugged and not change it with a new one?
The dealer wants $26 and Nappa wants $19 so I don't want to spend the money if I really don't need to.
Thanks in advance!
