I know i have been getting ready to build a 350 or 383, but wasnt ready yet. I have heard banging noise like a header leak, but can find no header leak. At first there was no power loss, but after a few days she has been missing. I know i put new wires on the car a few months ago the wires are tight, i going to check next week when i am off work, but any ideas will be appreciated. by the way 1990 tpi305 iroc no real motor mods

if it runs you never hurt a rod. i think you need to go back over the tune up and make sure it's good.

You might not have thrown a rod but spun a bearing.
With a spun bearing the motor will still run but knock like a B#@!H!

Start the car and drive it down the block. I you feel it in the gas pedal it could be a spun bearing.
You might want to do this barefoot to pick up the knock in the gas pedal.

I spun a bearing years ago and I could feel it in the gas pedal.
