failed emissions big time help!

Hydocarbons passing- 1.60, what I got- 3.55
Carbon monoxide passing-15.00 what I got- 21.99
Oxides of Nitrogen passing- 2.50 what I got- 5.95
I failed every test by a lot. Where should I start? Are these really bad numbers or fairly common? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Would it be better for my emissions to get a regular cat from an auto parts store or should I order a catco high flow cat from summit?

Also, your O2 sensor may not be "up to snuff" if it is old. O2 sensors are notorious for working well enough to not trip an SES code, but they are weak enough to not give an accurate reading.

Also, when is the last time you did a tune up? You need to give more info.

Have you cut the screens from your MAF sensor BTW?

The plugs, wires, and O2 sensor have less than 3,000 miles on them. I didn't cut the maf screens.

Then I would go with RB's recommendation of new cats.

you could always install a dual cat setup with high flows-thatg would cut emmisions further.

un4given, you bastard
Yeah I'd check O2 sensor, and cat. If you're still not doing good you're probably burning oil and/or antifreeze.
